1 of 8 Factory Built 1963 Catalina Show Cars for 1963 Daytona Speed Week. This vehicle was built the second week of November, 1962 at the Doraville Georgia plant and sold new at McNamara Pontiac in Orlando Florida. This is believed to be one of the eight factory experimental type cars shipped to this dealer for preparation for race week at Daytona International Speedway. These eight Catalinas were built with 389 V8s with 2-bbl carburation in order to receive factory air conditioning. They were then converted to 421 HO 4-bbl V8s. They were all to be driven on the track one at a time by factory representatives and prospective customers. The air conditioning was required for comfort for potential customers. This vehicle was then purchased new with dealer installed Tri-Power carburation.
